I had hoped to use this unit in my car with a Kenwood IPOD/IPhone adapter but don’t bother if you are using any kind of non-Apple aftermarket cords. The Apple cords lock into the little plastic gizmo and they work real well, but anything else won’t fit. One could probably remove the plastic cord lock mechanism and with a drimmel tool open up the opening for after market cords but then you would have to glue in your cord to make it hold.

Okay so I am drooling after the comments and order this lovely orange cradle for my iphone. I am laughed at by friends that have created their own cradles and decide to order it anyway.

I open it and follow the directions but run into a couple problems.

after removing the locking plastic piece from under the attached base I follow the instructions and slide the isync cable thru and it jams. The locking clip does not aide in pushing the isync cable upward so essentially I assumed this was the intent and place my iphone on the dock.

Looks beautiful, stunning, love the doc and then the horror ensues. I realized a bit too late that the plastic clip blocks the pincher release on the isync cable and have no way of detaching my iphone from the cradle.

After sobbing for a bit at my desk rather than doing work I begin to curse as i stab at the base of the hard plastic from the back side. Eventually I break off enough pieces and am able to push the atached base and Isync cable all the way thru the hole on the base and finally seperate it to free my precious.

The instructions say nothing about pushing the cable all the way thru from underneath or by trying other methods. I guess out of 4-5 people I am the only one that couldnt push this cable thru and went into panic when my iphone locked.

I give it 3 stars because even after I destroyed the attach plastic base I can still use it as a cradle and it still looks sweet.

very well conceived and designed item. unlike apple’s universal dock, there’s no problem making the connection even if you have a case.

my only negative is that I purchased the silver version, expecting it to look like the photo, but it’s more like chrome. Don’t expect that it will match apple’s aluminum finish.

Do Not Try to Use This With a iPod cable that has those little side buttons! This is only meant to be used with the basic cable with the short connector. It seems to me that since this can only be used with that particular cord, the manufacturer could have included a cord. Also, the price is a bit high considering that the other docks do include one at a similar price.

That out of the way, I have to say I really like this dock. I have never used other docks so I can’t compare it to anything, but it’s really simple and it works really well. I think the metal design makes it heavy enough to keep the iPhone from sliding all over the desk when I move things around. And the curved base does seem to enhance the volume of the device.

Still using it as of 11/04/09, it’s a really nice thing. I don’t know if it really enhances the sound all that much, but I like the way it sits up on my desk. It’s too light for me to push the “home” button one-handed tho, but that’s my only complaint and I suspect most small docks are like that.

This is the only dock I found that supports the Iphone properly and you can leave your case on. It also looks cool. It is a little pricey because you supply your own cord but I guess you are paying for the convenience of not having to take your case off. That is why I purchased one for me and my wife. Recommended if price is not a concern.
